The newness and joy of spring

"For now the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. The fig tree puts forth its figs, and the vines are in blossom; they give forth  fragrance."   Song of Solomon 2:11-13

Every Spring I have great intentions of thoroughly cleaning my home.     Purging all the cobwebs, dust, and clutter that has accumulated during the dreary winter months. Cleaning and simplifying my life leads to less stress, a healthier home environment, and a feeling of accomplishment. However, on bright, sun-shinny days I find that being outside outweighs the need to clean and purge. The Lord’s blossoming creation brings renewed life to my spirit.

Job 12:7-10  “But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; 8 or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you. 9 Which of all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? 10 In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind."

Spring is a sign from God of Joy in new beginnings, new energies, and new efforts; a period of restored energy. Life is growing from every pore of  Nature. The earth’s heart beats with new life. Each Spring is a new display of God's presence and power; a renewal coming from the Lord. And what He does in the natural world He also does in the spiritual realm. A time of refreshing the Lord’s presence in the Church and the individual soul; a time of new life and new spiritual energy. The beauty of the Lord is upon the face of nature, and that beauty is as fresh and full as if there had never been a spring before. The minutest form of life has its wonder and beauty. The boundless variety and distribution of the Lord’s creation brings a wealth of life; strength, beauty and joy to every living creature.

Psalm 104:24 "How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your riches."

The Gospel of Christ is God imparting in our life and character the beauty of holiness, the beauty of God's own being. The work of the Spirit produces in us love, meekness, gentleness, patience, and charity; which forms the real essence of life. The season of Spring has a message and influence for us on this part of our life. Joy can be found in celebrating Spring’s arrival.

Psalm 96:11-12 "Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. 12 Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy."

While composing this article the following song “popped” into my mind; sing a few verses and be filled with the Love of Jesus and the Joy of celebrating Spring.

"I've Got the Joy, Joy, Joy , Joy"

I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy Down in my heart, Down in my heart, Down in my heart, I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy Down in my heart, Down in my heart to stay. And I’m so happy, So very happy; I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart. And I’m so happy, So very happy, I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart.
